JOURNALISTS CHAMPIONING MOTHERS AND BABIES SURVIVAL

UTPC MNH champions listening to E4A Tanzania Evidence Advisor  Dr. Moke Magoma.

The partnership continues to flourish between Mama Ye! and the Union of Tanzania Press Clubs (UTPC) in training, mentoring and supporting journalists as maternal and newborn health (MNH) champions. Recently, journalists from across all regions of Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar came together for top-up training on MNH with a particular focus on newborns as part of marking World Prematurity Day.

The journalists were furthermore privileged to receive a visit from the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Hon. Dr Seif Rashid, who took the time to elaborate on several pertinent issues in the health sector, as well as to acknowledge and applaud the efforts of the UTPC journalists in supporting the government and other partners in accelerating maternal and newborn survival.

As part of the partnership with Mama Ye!, UTPC publishes an MNH pull-out in their regular newspaper ‘Tuwasiliane’ – see below for links to the more recent pull-outs focusing on World Sepsis Day and World Prematurity Day. Also read here a blog by the President of UTPC, Kenny Simbaya, who has become inspired to be an MNH advocate.
